There is no Final Exam in Learning Strategies

​

Week of 1/14 - 1/18

This week students continued to use their planners, tracking missing assignments and grades.  All missing assignments in both special education and general education classes are due this week.  Final exams are January 23rd-25th.  Each student will conference to determine strategies for raising their grades before the end of the semester.  Students have the opportunity to use class time as a study hall.

Week of 1/7 - 1/11

This week students continued to use their planners, tracking missing assignments and grades.  The students focused on study skills for exams and test-taking strategies.  Students viewed short videos and wrote strategies that they could use on their upcoming final exams.  Students had the opportunity to use class time as a study hall to catch up on missing assignments and projects from their general education classes.

Week of 12/10 - 12/19

This week students continued to use their planners, tracking missing assignments and grades.  Students continued to develop self-awareness around transition planning for their IEP and plans after high school  The week before break students did a short unit on gratitude.  Students had the opportunity to use class time as a study hall to catch up on missing assignments and projects from their general education classes.

Week of 12/3 - 12/7

This week students continued to use their planners, tracking missing assignments and grades.  The focus of the next unit is self-awareness and transition planning.  Students completed assessments and inventories to self-rate their strengths and challenges.  Students had the opportunity to use class time as a study hall to catch up on missing assignments and projects from their general education classes.

Week of 11/26 - 11/30

This week students continued to use their planners, tracking missing assignments and grades.  The focus of the next unit is self-awareness and transition planning.  Students completed assessments and inventories to self-rate their strengths and challenges.  Students had the opportunity to use class time as a study hall to catch up on missing assignments and projects from their general education classes.

This week students continued to use their planners, tracking missing assignments and grades.  Students had the opportunity to use class time as a study hall to catch up on missing assignments and projects from their general education classes.

Week of 11/12 - 11/16

This week students continued to use their planners, tracking missing assignments and grades, and participated in a hands-on exercise to organize their schoolwork.  This week's activity required students to select one current event of interest to research.

Week of 11/5 - 11/9

This week students continued to use their planners, tracking missing assignments and grades, and participated in a hands-on exercise to organize their schoolwork.  This week students' class exercises and discussions were about voting and their rights and responsibilities when they become adults.

​

Week of 10/29 - 11/2

This week students continued to use their planners, tracking missing assignments and grades, and participated in a hands-on exercise to organize their schoolwork.  The students conducted a series of exercises on goal-setting, and how to write SMART goals.

​

Week of 10/22 - 10/26

This week students continued to use their planners, tracking missing assignments and grades, and participated in a hands-on exercise to organize their schoolwork.  The students conducted a series of exercises on stress, how your body reacts to stress and ways to manage stress.

Week of 10/15 - 10/19

This week students continued to use their planners, tracking missing assignments and grades, and participated in a hands-on exercise to organize their schoolwork.  The students conducted a series of exercises on current events.  Students selected one current event of interest to research.

Week of 10/9 -10/12

This week students continued to use their planners, tracking missing assignments and grades, and participated in a hands-on exercise to organize their schoolwork.  This was a short week due to teacher work day and PSAT testing.  Students considered the difference between a job and a career.

Week of 10/1 - 10/5

This week students continued to use their planners, tracking missing assignments and grades, and participated in a hands-on exercise to organize their schoolwork.  The students conducted a series of exercises on prioritization and separating activities by order of importance and due dates, as well as other factors that may affect completion.

Week of 9/24 - 9/28

This week students continued to use their planners, tracking missing assignments and grades, and participated in a hands-on exercise to organize their schoolwork.  The students conducted a series of exercises to evaluate their time management strengths and areas for growth.

​

Week of 9/17 – 9/21

This week students continued to use their planners, tracking missing assignments and grades, and participated in a hands-on exercise to organize their schoolwork.  The students explored their learning styles (visual, auditory, kinesthetic) and learned tips on how to take advantage of their learning style to succeed in classes.

​

Week of 9/10 – 9/14

This week students began to using their daily planners to track upcoming assignments and assessments.  Students also looked at their individual education plans and reviewed goals, accommodations and modifications.
