Each student's individual IEP goals will be aligned to the appropriate Common Core State Standards (CCSS) used by the State of Washington.

Course Standards

The Washington State Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) recognizes the importance of financial literacy and publishes guidance on Washington standards for financial literacy at the elementary, middle and high school levels.  Financial mathematics does not directly adhere to Common Core State Standards.  However, in January of 2016 educators met to review national standards for financial education and create grade-level benchmarks.  Information on the initiative and the standards can be found here:

Standards in this course will contain the areas of knowledge and understanding that are fundamental to personal finance:

  • Earning Income

  • Buying Goods and Services

  • Using Credit

  • Saving

  • Financial Investing

  • Protecting and Insuring
