On this page you will find supplementary materials that build upon knowledge and skills learned in earlier units and applies them in new contexts.

1) Help with General Education Coursework - send an email to Ms. Gale to coordinate a work plan.

2) NewsELA Resources - these activities will be sent out weekly to practice reading comprehension and writing skills relative to Humanities content that has been taught so far.

NewsELA is a free resource that educators and students can use to access reading material at a student's grade level, answer reading comprehension questions, and practice written expression skills.

This site includes current events stories for high school students.  Read an article and write a one paragraph response with your thoughts.  Do you agree or disagree with the author?  What was the most interesting point?  Email your responses to Ms. Gale for feedback.

Week of 3/30 - 4/3:   Great Depression Stories

Read these first person accounts of individuals living in the United Kingdom during the Great Depression, choose one account and write a letter (using standard formatting) to that individual.  Email your responses to Ms. Gale for feedback.

Week of 3/23 - 3/27:   The Global Great Depression

Read the article and answer the question, how did the world-wide Global Depression in the 1930s lead to the rise of dictators and totalitarian governments?  Write a thesis statement (an argument that includes a "how, what and so what") and then write a 6-8 sentence argumentative paragraph that includes evidence to support your answer.  Email your responses to Ms. Gale for feedback.
